MORE NEWS Giving Thanks November 21, 2012 We have so much to be thankful for. We came through Hurricane Sandy virtually undamaged. We had to postpone a few performances, which we're working to reschedule. And just ahead, there're 18 performances of Nutcracker in North, Central and South Jersey. We are truly thankful for our audiences and for being able to do what we love. Countdown to Nutcracker November 16 2012 It’s just two weeks til we kick off the 2012 statewide tour of Nutcracker. Join us at a theatre near you in north, central or south Jersey to see the heartwarming tale of a little girl and her magical nutcracker. First stop is bergenPAC in Englewood on December 1 & 2, followed by Cape May Court House on December 9. The final stop is a run of 12 performances with full orchestra December 14 – 24 at MPAC in Morristown. Pinocchio postponed November 06 2012 The performance of Pinocchio, originally scheduled for Sunday, November 11, at UCPAC, has been postponed.e. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we also had to postpone the November 3 Balanchine/Robbins Evening which would have been our season opener at MPAC in Morristown, and the November 4 sensory-friendly performance of Pinocchio at UCPAC. Getting ready to strike up the band January 27 2012 “BALLET AND THE BAND” WITH THE WEST POINT BAND Ballet and band music, what a combination! NJ Ballet’s annual performance in Prudential Hall on March 17 at 7PM, will feature the West Point Band and a program including :Jerome Robbins' Interplay, Edward Villella’s Prelude, Fugue and Riffs; and a new ballet by Pedro Ruiz. The program represents the first ever ballet-band collaboration for both. February 25 program announced January 27 2012 Following the enthusiastic reception for his Tamoia last spring, Humberto Teixeira comes back with Retorno,which will present NJ Ballet’s Junior Company in featured roles alongside four of NJB’s professional artists. The other premiere is Suite for Six by David Tamaki, former principal dancer with New Jersey Ballet. David has considerable experience creating works for students. NJ Ballet Guild Presents "Warm Hues of Autumn" - 2nd Annual Fall Fundraiser September 21 2011 New Jersey Ballet Guild is hosting its Second Annual Fall Fashion Fundraiser benefitting New Jersey Ballet Company on Sunday, October 2 at the Grand Summit Hotel in Summit. This is the Guild’s major fundraising event of the year. The Guild’s effort helps New Jersey Ballet provide quality programming for all New Jerseyans-- from Bergen County to Cape May County. Dancer David Tamaki teaching in South Africa July 01 2011 Sitting on the sidelines is not for NJ Ballet principal David Tamaki. David injured his knee in 2009, putting a temporary halt to his performing career. As he began the long, slow road to recovery, he decided to use the time to go to college. With a generous grant from Career Transition for Dancers, he enrolled in the LEAP (Liberal Education for Arts Professionals) program at Saint Mary’s College of California, which offers a Bachelor of Arts. Another season comes to a close... May 27 2011 Before we go, here are some excerpts from Robert Johnson’s Star-Ledger review of NEW Ballet with a Latin Beat: Another season has ended for New Jersey Ballet, but not without a stimulating farewell. The troupe revived its frolicsome "Ballet with a Latin Beat" program on May 21 at the Community Theatre in Morristown. This time, New Jersey Ballet added two new works by emerging choreographers to the mixed bill. Two world premieres in NEW Ballet with a Latin Beat - May 21 8:00PM May 13 2011 This fresh new celebration of Latino culture features works representing Mexico, Brazil and Cuba, including two premieres, Suite Huasteca and Tamoia, and the return of two great audience-pleasers -- Guajira and Para Dois. Suite Husateca, an ambitious work by Mexican-American David Fernandez, will feature live music by the Cesar Chavez Quartet and composer Jesus Echevarria, plus striking projected backdrops by Mexican artist Gabriela Rosado Rivera. Sleeping Beauty - 2 Performances Sunday May 22 at 1:30pm & 4pm May 13 2011 The quintessential classical ballet, Sleeping Beauty delivers high drama, tender romance, and glorious Tchaikovsky music which have made it a favorite with adults and children for more than a hundred years. The ballet is filled with familiar characters including Princess Aurora, the Handsome Prince, the King and Queen and their splendid Royal Court, as well as characters from the fairy realm, the Lilac Fairy, and the wicked Carabosse.


Swans, Satyrs and Sleeping Beauty coming to UCPAC and bergenPAC April 25 2011 Saturday night audiences will get to see both White Swan and Black Swan when the company performs Swan Lake Act II and other classics. The evening also includes Walpurgisnacht, the bacchanale from Faust, in which dancers in the roles of nymphs and satyrs, show off spectacular jumps and lifts as they cavort playfully at the gates of Hades. On Sunday, it’s Sleeping Beauty, the eternally-popular fairy tale ballet.
Full length Giselle coming to Sussex CCC March 21 2011 Giselle has been enchanting audiences worldwide since 1844 with her timeless tale of love that redeems a faithless suitor and conquers even death. Cinderella returns to Morristown April 17 March 21 2011 One of the world’s favorite fairy tales is coming to The Community Theatre at Mayo Center on Sunday, April 17. This is New Jersey Ballet’s annual Morristown performance of the beloved children’s ballet presented with original “storyteller” narration so even the littlest theater-goers can keep up with the story.
